Bring Animals Relief and Kibble (BARK) Act (H.R. 3732)
Support H.R. 5020 - Government Grants to Support Animal Shelters
The BARK Act of 2025 would make protect companies and individuals donating petfood and the nonprofits accepting the donations from liability for "damages" that may come from the donated items. This would enable pet stores to donate old food that is safe for consumption and supplies to animal shelters and rescues.

Don't let good food go to waste with so many animals in need! Please ask your representatives to support the BARK Act of 2025.
This resolution would amend the Animal Welfare Act to direct the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a grants program for animal shelters.

Stop New Zealand's National Feral Cat Massacre

Picture
The New Zealand Department of Conservation has added “feral” cats to their Predator Free 2050 targeted species - a list of introduced species they plan to cull by 2050.

Sign a petition to show your support for a country-wide cat sterilization program instead of culling.

End New Zealand's North Canterbury Feral Cat Hunting Competition
The city of North Canterbury holds an annual hunting event that offers prize money for the most animals killed within several categories of species, including "feral" cats. The cats are caught in traps and then executed with a rifle.

Sign our petition urging New Zealand's ambassador to the US, Rosemary Banks, to create a pathway to ending this competition.

New York City: Tell the City Council to Pass a Bill for Bodega Cats
It is against New York City and State law for food retail stores to house cats, even though doing so benefits both the stores (rodent control) and cats who would otherwise have no home and shelter. Int 1471-2025, known as "the Bodega Cat Bill," would override the law for NY City. It would also offer free spay/neuter and vaccination services for store cats.

The bill is currently with the New York City Council Committee for Health. Please write to the Chair of the Committee, Lynn Schulman, at [email protected] to voice your support for this bill. Additional Committee members' Emails and mailing addresses can be found by clicking the button below.

Maryland Dept. of Agriculture Spay/Neuter Fund Expansion
Picture
Crossover bills SB 641 and HB 85 would establish a process through which a person may make a voluntary contribution to the Fund. It would also help the pet population of underserved communities by adding financing for routine vaccinations during the time of spay and neuter services, mobile veterinary clinic transportation, and transportation services for animals to a clinic from an underserved area.

California: Expanding Access to Cat Neuters
Update (April 9,  2024): This bill passed the Assembly Business and Professions Committee and will next be voted on by the Appropriations Committee.
Picture
There is a huge backlog of community cats needing to be neutered and not enough veterinarians to do the surgeries. Bill AB 2133 would allow Registered Veterinary Technicians to perform male cat neuters under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

Contact your Assembly representative to ask them to support Bill AB 2133.

Urge Your Local Shelters to Release Ear-Tipped Cats
Don't Let Cats be Labeled an Invasive Species!
Picture
Your voice can help change laws and direct public opinion towards humane care for all cats. Feral cats are at a much higher risk for euthanasia because they cannot be adopted out. To prevent this needless loss of life, urge your shelters to release ear-tipped cats they trap to TNR groups. This simple action will save many innocent lives.

We need to take the real causes of wildlife and bird depletion seriously - habitat loss, climate change, pollution, pesticides - and STOP the rampant scapegoating of cats. It's just too easy to blame cats and not to tackle the tough issues. Call your senators today and urge them to prevent legislation from passing that unfairly labels cats as invasive species.
