VA RESIDENTS: SUPPORT A STATEWIDE DECLAW BAN
Update (April 8, 2024): The bill has been approved by the governor and goes into effect 7/1/2024!
Bill HB 1354 would provide inadequate protection for cats against declawing. The bill bans declawing unless it benefits the health of the cat - OR a caretaker provides a doctor's note claiming cat scratches would pose a health risk to the caretaker. Most doctors would provide such a note to any patient upon request, rendering a declaw ban essentially pointless.
